Max,
Tomorrow you will wake up in a new year. A new year brings new adventures! What fun! You are the most adventurous, stubborn, adorable, mischievous, wild, loving little 2 year old I think I'll ever know. Thank goodness you are mine.
We celebrated the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 at Christy's with all the boys. Ya'll played swords, argued, played i pads, chased each other, and played superheroes for hours. There really is no other way I would want to spend my NYE.
You can say EVERYTHING. You are a big flirt with all the girls...especially blondes. You crave attention and can be such a cute little show off. You are a little jealous of any attention given to Tagg by me, you do not want to use the potty, you love playing on my phone, you love to have a dance off in the living room ( you seriously have the most awesome moves), you can be a little rough with Tagg, you are a fast runner, you know how to manipulate well...("Max, you just made that mess, so you need to pick it up" "Mama, (in your whiniest voice), but I can't do it by myself), you have been asking so many questions about Jesus (I pray God guides me to answer those questions), you love going to Grammy and Granddaddy's and look for granddaddy's pond and cows as we're driving, spankings don't seem to phase you or change your behavior, you hate grapes, you love to pretend cook and to play doctor (you've diagnosed me and daddy with a sick brain), you like your tools, you love to play outside, Santa brought you a bike this year....
You are a challenge. Grammy says I was just like you...stubborn, somewhat mean, smart, curious!
I love a good challenge! I'll figure this momma thing out one day with your help.
I LOVE YOU BIG.
Momma!

November 2014
Max,
You are growing and growing and I am anxious about you getting so big and then out into this crazy world. I pray for you often. I pray you have a kind, servant's heart, that you love God and the people around you. I pray, too, that I can enjoy this season of our lives, even when it's messy, unorganized, and loud...It still is so much fun.
You are just the cutest thing...your bright blonde hair and teddy bear brown eyes will always melt this mama's heart. You have a way with words, of talking others (especially me) into getting exactly what you want. You can say so many words and understand so many things at such a young age, it sometimes takes me by surprise.
These days you are into my cabinets, getting my pots and pans, and pretending you are cooking something, usually corn or chicken nuggets. Then you bring me this pretend food and we pretend to gobble it up, even Tagg is in on this one. He just thinks you are hilarious.
You have a special little dance that is too funny you like to perform on the rug when Jake and the Never Land Pirates come on. And, you have learned to use our i phones. Great!! You constantly want a phone. Luckily, setting a timer for you has really worked.
Jelly Biscuits! You love 'em. Especially at Cracker Barell. I mean, who doesn't? We went to eat with Great Grandma White for her 84th birthday there and you gobbled down two jelly biscuits before we got our meals. You love your sweet stuff (so do I)
How I love to come home from working out and find you, daddy, and Tagg dancing in the living room...last night it was to, "What does the Fox say?" I got a cute video of it too. You love to get your dance moves on!
Your favorite books are How does a Dinosaur Act when He's Mad? and Cupcake. Those are some of my favorite times with you. You grab a book and ask if I'll read it to you. Of course, I always do!
You are my sweet Max. How wonderful to know that God thought I would be the best mama for you!
Love you always,
Mama

Tacky, inappropriate...but too funny!
Max,
I just have to tell you that you say some of the funniest
(and most inappropriate things) for a 2.5 year old!! Just the other morning as I was quietly
trying to tiptoe out of the house, so that I could get to work by 7:00 AM, I
heard your sweet but loud voice yell MOMMA!
I went into my room (you have been sleeping in my bed because daddy is
redoing your closet, and frankly, it looks like an explosion hit your room),
crawled onto the bed, and you said “My diaper came off,” which actually means
you took it off because you don’t like to be wet. You should be potty trained, but you’re not,
because you are stubborn!!! Anyway, as
I’m putting your diaper on you reach down, grab a certain part of your body and
say, “look, momma, I can back myself up…beep, beep, beep.” Interesting that you drew a connection
between that and driving…you love to drive the gator and tractor at Grammy and
Granddaddy’s so I’m guessing that’s where it came from. But, for the next 20 minute drive, I could
not stop laughing about it! I love your
sweet voice and your humor!
Your favorite saying these days: I’m so fancy! haha
You like staying at mrs. Jena’s and she makes you
mind!!! I’ve seen a noticeable
improvement in your manners! Yes ma’am
to everyone, even daddy! You have met
some new friends and I have gained some teachable moments with you on what is
okay to repeat and what’s not okay.
Daddy has been working on a project with you. Together, you two made a very special box:
“max’s tacky box.” And, inside of it, we put words that you say that are just
tacky! So far, our first and only entry
into the box is “big fat butt.” You
locked that phrase into the box forever, never to come out again…we hope!
At this point, you can say anything. You make connections to everything. You also try to ignore me and daddy when you
don’t want to talk to us about something by closing your eyes and pretending
you are asleep. You often tell us, “I am
mad at you.” …when you have not gotten your way or “I’m not listening to
you.” Good thing you are sweet as pie
85% of the time.
You remind us to pray before every meal and just the other
night as we were lying in my bed you asked me where God lived. I pray God prepares me adequately for all of
your future questions about Him.
Tagg wants to do everything you do. He follows you around and wants to play with
you all the time. Ya’ll are just too
much fun to watch.
When we go to church, as you are about to enter, you yell,
“here I come!” I hope you are always as
eager to enter God’s House. That is my
prayer for you.
I love you little man, more than you’ll ever know.
Love,
Momma

Max,
What a weekend we had!
Thursday night, you were stung/bitten by something at Memorial Park
while playing on the playground. You
literally went into a tunnel unbitten and came out the other side bitten…right
above your left eye. You had a small
bump, but nothing too noticeable. We
left, went to Wal Mart, went home and got you and Tagg to sleep. The next morning you made it all the way into
the car before I noticed your eye was very swollen! I drove you and Tagg to Lakewood to let
Grammy look at it, and then spent my morning making arrangements for you and
Tagg, who had a sinus infection, to be picked up from Miss Pam’s and taken to
the doctor. Your dad accidentally slept
in, which really made me ill, and I was in the middle of coordinating the TCAP
at school. Grammy left work to take you
and by the afternoon when I picked you up, your eyes was completely swollen
shut. That was a long 2 days! Your poor, sweet little eye. Today, Monday, it is almost back to normal!!
“Could you”…could you
hold me, could you hold my juice, could you pick me up, could you help me. It’s the sweetest little phrase! And my favorite: Thank you so very much! Or You’re welcome so very much! It just makes me smile every time I hear
it.
You are sleeping all night in your big boy bed all by
yourself, and usually at 6:00 AM on the dot, I hear your sweet footsteps in my
bedroom. You want to get in the big bed
and you want juice…immediately.
What a sweet Mother’s Day we had. You brought me some snickers bites and a
coffee cup at 6:00 AM. You helped daddy
cook some eggs and bacon and you made the most beautiful boquet of your
handprints I’ve ever seen…not to mention all of the sweet hugs and “Happy
Mother’s Day, momma!” BUT…the best gift
of all: daddy helped you make a video of all the things you love about me! It made me cry, smile, wish you would always
stay just as sweet as you are! I love
you, sweet boy!
Your favorite thing to do is ride the gator and tractor at
Grammy and Granddaddy’s house. We do
that on the weekends as much as we can.
You have just gotten so good at being the driver. I love these days with you and making all of
these special memories.
We have decided to start taking you into the sancturary for
church so that you can go to Children’s church and then go to your class. We try our best to entertain you. You were standing in the pew between grammy
and granddaddy and grammy asked if you heard that horn (making music), and you
said in your best whisper voice: “It’s God!” too sweet.
I love you, sweet boy.

Max,
Well, it's summer time which for you, means potty training time. Oh me....this stuff is hard work...for both of us. You love to take your diaper off and pee outside. The problem is you don't love coming back inside. So, to the guy driving the lawnmower, and the lady next door: we are so sorry! They get to see your little naked tush a little too often.
I'm enjoying spending so much quality time with you, but I'm realizing more and more how much like me your really are: stubborn, not the greatest listener....oh me. It's gonna be a long ride. You also have a big, big heart and a "hello" to everyone you meet. I love that about you! You never discriminate: you talk and wave to everyone you meet. I hope you always have a love for others the way you do right now.
You are learning to say your prayers, and it is just the sweetest thing to hear. I know God must smile when He hears all of your Thank yous! I surely do.
You can count to 10, sing the alphabet, name off all of your colors, put on your shorts all by yourself...you are becoming so independent. I can't believe how much you've grown.
I love you so much!
Out the door, dinosaur.

The List
Max,
The list of awesome things you say and do:
1. You are still singing Jingle Bells. Your version: Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to ride to Wal Mart!
2. You always notice if there is an airplane in the sky.
3. Your favorite phrase: "Let me do it!" You want to do everything yourself: climb in and out of your carseat, carry your backpack, wipe your nose...everything
4. Your second favorite phrase: Know what, momma? Big, Bad, Wolf...Grammy has been reading you stories
5. Your answers to most things: "cause" or "I don't care"
6. You bow your head to pray and always say Amen.
7. In your prayers, you thank God for the stars in the sky. You love to look at the moon and stars!
8. You love to go to Grammy's and Granddaddy's and ride the pug (you still call Grammy Meemee)
9. You call baby brother Taggy.
10. When I look stressed or upset, you tell me it's okay.
11. You love to blow bubbles outside.
12. Play doh!!
13. You want to go to Christy's house or ride in Christy's car....EVERYDAY!
14. You walk into my room most mornings demanding juice..."right now"
15. When you don't want to do something you always throw in the word today. Fore example: "I don't want to wear my shoes...today." It's all in the way you say it...so much emphasis on day!!
16. Your favorite song is Down by the Bay. And...I may go crazy if I hear Raffi sing it one more time.
17. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! You only like the intro song, and over spring break I played the intro song for you over 10 times!
18. You only like to use the potty if it's your idea.
19. You don't meet a stranger. At your well check appointment you sat in Dr. Whitby's lap the entire time. If anyone is walking down our street, you must say hi.
20. You fall asleep on the couch with your cup, pillow, and blanket every night. Sweetest thing.
I love you,
Momma

Happy birthday!
Max,
Today you are two years old! It's bittersweet for me. I struggle with the fact that you are going to grow up no matter how much I wish I could freeze so many moments in time. I need them to last just a little longer! I tear up a little when I look at your baby pictures, but as I'm crying, I have a big smile on my face. You are such a blessing to my life!
You can count to 10 (usually skipping #5 and yelling out 9, 10 with your arms in the air and a huge smile spread across your face). You are enormously independent and will only decide to count for us if it means you get to do so while doing pull ups on daddy's pull up bar.
You like to ask questions! Many, many questions. Momma here? Daddy here? Tagg here? I'm not sure if you like to know where everyone is, or if you just like the tickling that follows our answer.
You are still loving bath time, and you take off your pants, socks, and diaper all by yourself. Having Tagg in the tub with you has really cramped your style. You're not a fan of having to turn off the water either!
We are now going through the hitting and pinching stage. I do pray this is just a stage! Sharing is still not your forte. Time out and spankings are occurring a litle more often. Though I hate that part (even though it's very necessary), I do like the sweet hugs and the "I'm sorries" that follow. I know you don't enjoy Tagg playing with your things, but I love seeing you two play together. He loves laughing at the silly things you do.
We celebrated your birthday with family on February 21 and 22. Cooper's tricycle was passed down to you. Grammy and Granddaddy got you a trampoline along with clothes, and Christy, Josh, and the boys gave you an electric toothbrush and clothes. Aunt Bonnie and JT got you a cute outfit too. Daddy made you, Jack, and Jude airplanes out of cardboard boxes, and we had airplane cupcakes. Saturday was a beautiful day, so we played outside most of the day at Grammy's and Granddaddy's.
Daddy has been teaching you how to pray, and you do a great job of bowing your head, closing your eyes, and saying, "Amen." Saturday morning, you woke up extra early at 5:00 AM, came into my bedroom, crawled in bed, snuggled up beside me and said, "Pray for blanket" (you do love your blanket). So, we closed our eyes and prayed, "Thank you, God, for my blanket." You remind me to be thankful for all of the little things and all of the great big things too!
Happy second birthday, sweet Max.
I love you!

Max
One of my favorite parts of the day is driving to work each morning because you are right in my backseat! Every morning we look for big trucks, yellow buses, a moon that looks like a banana, and pretty stars! You know the way to McDonalds because we get coffee there a little too often, and you know the way to Miss Pam's and start asking if Mr. Mark will be there. I love how curious and inquisitive you are.
At the end of the day, Aunt Christy picks you up, and you cry to stay at "Jack Jude's house." Sweet and annoying: glad you love your cousins, but I don't love the fit that takes place every weekday when I come to pick you up.
You like to have a snack when we get home: usually yogurt covered raisins, plain raisins, a banana, or my paleo banana bread. Then it's "Daddy work at the bank?" in your sweet voice for at least an hour until Daddy finally gets home. You are playing a little better with Tagg now that he is somewhat mobile, but sharing is still not your idea of a good time. We're working on that!
You like your Mike and Sully potty seat, and we are asking you more often if you need to go potty, but we are not in full-on potty training mode. You are doing better with it than I thought you would. You love to flush and wash your hands afterward too!
I am having a hard time believing that in a month you will be 2. I love you even more with each day!
